As part of Hoxton Hall's Urbanism Season, we are looking for a group of seven performers to work with the artist Lottie Child to develop a participatory performance piece based on her ongoing practice: Street Training
Street Training Hoxton will be the unfolding story of a collective assault on the culture of fear and cynicism that pervades urban city streets. Each performance will be different as we follow our desires and re-make the streets together. “We met at the theatre and hoped we might get a glimpse of something precious in the world around us or in ourselves. Maybe we wanted to find out 'how to be joyful' in the city". This is the project for you… • If you are trained or untrained in dance, theatre, improvisation, contact improvisation, clown, mime, parkour, beatboxing or spoken word. • If you like the idea of performing in an unusual environment and have the courage to interact with the public in a way that is not common in theatre settings. • If you are dedicated and committed to creating an innovative and rewarding outdoor performance. • If you have a sense of humour, are willing to be creative, and be part of a project that is about surprise, fun, and challenging people’s perceptions of public space. Auditions will be on the 21st August and performances will take place between the 12th-15th September. For more an application form email [email protected] More details can be found at www.streettraining.org THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 5PM SUNDAY 15TH AUGUST.
