Alan Sokal's notorious hoax <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_affair> gets
re-examined, some 15 years later, by Michael Bérubé in "The Science Wars
Redux <http://democracyjournal.org/article2.php?ID=6789>" [Democracy, Issue
#19, Winter 2011]. At 3QuarksDaily Dave Maier reviews Bérubé's essay,
in "Another
Round with Michael
Bérubé<http://www.3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2010/12/another-round-with-michael-b%C3%A9rub%C3%A9.html>
.'

It's interesting that the waters are still roiling after all these years,
but more to the point is that right-wing politics has adopted some of the
rhetoric of critical theory in its attacks on science. The rapprochement of
the humanities (art necessarily included) and sciences assumes critical
importance, but as both Bérubé and Maier point out, the solutions are not
simple, and not without cost.

Worth reading, if you have some time.
