Charlie Jeffery and Dan Robinson met during the workshop Negotiating us, here and now, and created Mud Office. For this fictitious organization, at once bureaucracy and business, they wrote a manifesto and drew rules and regulations defining its goals and how it would operate. In so doing, they poked fun at various western cultural and economic values. Using mud, Mud Office appropriated a devalued material, an elementary organic constituent, based on which it invented an ambivalent economy. Mud Office established contexts for reflection, events and tools of communication based on this principle.
