Hello NBers,

This looks like a good cause run by some excellent women in art and tek.

>>Our aim is to promote women's contributions to technology in the arts. What
>>better way than through highly visible and fun events and workshops? We need
>>your finical support to ensure this goes off with the bang it deserves.

Last night I was flicking through a heap of old Linux Format magazines.
Women are not well represented. In 6 magazines, Heather Corcoran was
interviewed about her involvement in Goto10 (a high-point), there was an
interview with Linus Torvald's mum and a cheerie looking model answering
the phone featured in a tech services ad. The only regular column
written by a woman featured a rant about how women should get over
themselves, not be so politically correct and deal with sexist jokes on
techie forum.

This is all a bit annoying but on the up-side I have just secured the
Art and Design Studios at WSD, Writtle College,
(www.furtherfield.org/inspiwrit) as the venue for the Chelmer Linux User
group.Peer learning for artists, designers, technologists and thinkers
of all genders - getting our hands dirty together: ) Anyone in the
Chelmsford area interested get in touch.

don't forget to support mztek!
