The http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin is an interesting read, and
in my mind gives the impression bitcoin is a serious project, although
the page does seem to repeat itself and need some tidying up.
Somewhere I read that the original developer, Satoshi Nakamoto has
since left the project, which is slightly concerning, BUT

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satoshi_Nakamoto

"Satoshi Nakamoto is the creator of an open source project called
Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a digital currency that garnered mainstream
financial media attention.[1][2][3]Satoshi first published a white
paper on Bitcoin in 2008 and then in 2009 founded an open source
project called Bitcoin. The real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is
unknown."

Installing the software required a few additional dependencies to be
met. I'm not a big fan of wxWidgets. It wouldn't be on my system if it
wasn't for me wanting to try the bitcoin software. Apparently it has a
headless mode but I've not made the effort to see if the software can
be built to run only in headless mode and thus avoid the wxWidgets
dependency.

Upon running the software I am left wondering what on earth to do with it.

Apparently there is a way of generating bit coins by mining them.
Unfortunately you need powerful computers with powerful graphics cards
running as part of a mining farm 24 hours a day. So you kind of need a
bit of money for both the hardware and electric to mine bitcoins.

But never fear, you can get free bitcoins by whoring you name, email
address, telephone number, and home address via freebitcoins.org and
the completion of 'fun' and 'free' free offers and mouth-watering
surveys.

My partners sometimes does the surveys and gets clubcard points or
whatever. From the amount of time it takes her, she's getting paid
less than minimum wage.

So no, I'm not going down that route, that's what I've got a job for,
and that's ******** tedious enough as it is.

So come on, where are my bitcoins!?!? Just give them to me! I've
installed the software goddamit! Just kidding.

Don't think I've got time for this.

James.
