OpenProcessing http://www.openprocessing.org/ allows you to link sketches to your Flattr account, if you have one (I don't). There is no logo display or anything like that.
I'd agree that logo display requirements can be a big enough nuisance that I would not use a tech I didn't really need. OTOH, I think micropayments are a great idea and we're just looking for a way that they will work. BitCoin seems interesting, but the arguments around it are thoroughly disorienting (maybe economists get it). The things that most appeal to me about BitCoin is that it's peer-to-peer and there is no fee for service, though evidently allowing your computer to be used in the BC net will generate micropayments in return for your processor cycles. At the very least this is an interesting model. Flattr has a voting system that allows you to make small payments to someone whose work you like. That's the way it's meant to function on OpenProcessing. As someone who is absolutely convinced that we need a new economic model of how art and artists work in society, not just another ethical stance visi-a-vis the art world/art market, this strikes me as a step in the right direction. It isn't too far off from Ted Nelson's original concept on micropayments for linkable media reuse, which is still a dream. So I'd have to say, I don't think the ideas behind these techs are duds, but I don't think they are fully realized yet, either. cheers, -- Paul On Fri, Jun 24, 2011 at 8:45 AM, Pall Thayer <[email protected]> wrote: > "This month, thanks to Flattr, I'we [sic] shared my world to [sic] the > world.
