Hi James
Even though there's inevitably some squabbling and flaming on lists I've made a
load of friends through Rhizome, Webartery and Netbehaviour, friendships which
have developed both on and off line. Part of the list thing is that even though
folk might irritate you occasionally you get to know them pretty well and you
end up feeling pretty defensive of them if not fond in every case.
When next there's a Furtherfield event you should come down - it'd be nice to
meet you and there's always a friendly and open atmosphere.
Personally I don't do facebook, not through any great moral scruple ( I agree
with those who've said these all things are pretty much the same) but because I
know it would eat my time in a way I can't afford. I'm certainly not sniffy
about online but, there, I think lists and e mail (combined with the
occasional meet up and chat) have yet to be beaten
best wishes
michael
