A short film I've made on a trip to a Welsh beach.
"A trip to a Welsh beach, surrounded by millions of years of fossils, layered
into almost geometrically perfect forms. The precarious balancing of the layers
constantly threatens to collapse and fall on people clambering over the
structures. Substrata, tries to capture some of the feeling of being surrounded
by the weight, of both time, being manifested in the fossilisation of creatures
and the actual weight of the stones and rocks. Substrata makes the smaller
structures and layers into macro visuals by stripping away the obvious into a
silvery, liquid grey. The forms then become almost organic and appear as though
they were a microscopic view of some organic creatures cellular structures,
pumping fluids to maintain the life force."
