Interactive photo project: Honoring Japan’s ‘sense of place' A Public Art project in San Francisco, CA by laurie halsey brown.
What was the most ‘Japanese’ experience that you remember having in Japan? Or imagine having? I would love to include your perspective as part of my interactive public art project: Honoring Japan’s ‘sense of place’ – An Artistic Investigation via Suggestion. I’d like to go to Japan through your eyes. This is an important project to me that I started developing on 3.11 in response to the Tsunami in Japan. It investigates the ‘sense of place’ of Japan, through photographing quintessential aspects of it, based on your perspective of what those are. This project also investigates how the use of online tools such as Kickstarter, Facebook and Twitter function as a platform for creating public art, and the relationship between art, social media and commerce. Any amount of financial support you give is appreciated as well, and is integral to having the project happen. This project will culminate in a photography book, and every contributor will be fully acknowledged in it.
