...and while we are talking about networked performances...

We have the pleasure of working on the production of a workshops series
in preparation for Moving Forest London2012 by AKA the Castle, a reprise
of a 12 hr performance in Berlin for Transmediale08.

A series of workshops with groups of between 10 and 30 at the V & A this
weekend explored distributed ways of performing Matthew Fuller's 500
Slogans.

The last session is just drawing to a close right now, marking
approximately 12hrs (I was present for 6 of these) of reading, reciting,
gurgling, chanting, shouting human-miking, whispering, by all kinds
differently accented people. These were interspersed with discussions
about the many ways to coordinate or disrupt the flow of the text. I'm
new to this way of working but I found the improvisation and playing
with others around a text liberating and great fun.

500 Slogans can be found here http://www.movingforest.net/html/slogans.html
I recommend you spend the next 30 minutes reading them out loud: )

This followed workshops at Space Media with MzTek and a number of
PureData hackers in which a way was found for people to use their mobile
phones to contribute to an audio-mashup in a central performance space.

Check out and sign up for next weekend's workshops "How Can a Forest
Move", with Isaac Marrero-Guillamón, Rachel Baker and Kayle Brandon and
John Jordan from The Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination. These
will be taking place at Furtherfield's new gallery (more on that soon)
in the middle of Finsbury Park and Space Media.
