James,
That's cool, thanks for spotting that with the i player.
Alan,
I'm glad you find it unethical to be using animals for testing and
splicing in this way.
Peronally I haven't eaten meat since I played rugby at school (think
seventies, think glam rock)
My mum said - do you want to stop eating meat - she showed me some
anti vivisection leaflets - and I said yes of course, why doesn't
everyone else too!!??
I never looked back.
Of course that's everyone's personal choice. And everyone's whether
animals should unnecessarily suffer for food production or medical
(and now friggin spider web goat) testing. (Here I go Alan) I feel
this because of one thing - Animals do not have a choice, and this
makes me recoil. I feel it is up to us to look after them - they are
our companions on this earth, mostly.
You are right about rain forests disappearing, beautiful animals,
birds, frogs and not least people - being replaced by Monsanto soya -
with Roundup (herbicide) probably causing birth defects in local
populations. There's not much time left I reckon. I've never even
been to those forests yet.

It's available until 10:29PM Tue, 24 Jan 2012. If you use Linux, you
can install get_iplayer to 'record' the show for viewing at your
convenience.
James.
What shocked me, and I think the programme makers, was the advanced
stage bio-hacking has reached. I for one find it worrisom that
people are sharing genetic code in digital form in a network online -
making it possible to basically start monkeying with genetic code,
splicing together bits of code, and using animals to make their
experiments.
Is it just me, or does anybody else think it's way past time that
this whole deal be properly debated. Goats with spider genes to make
silk from their milk to make new stronger than kevlar materials
(think military - think money). And this is just the start.
They also re-booted some dead bacteria - by inserting a new code
- !!!???
Science and ethics!!!???!!!
I challenge all netbehavours to make art about this!!
Simon
PS Gandhi said that India should remain rural - locally self
sufficient for basic needs - While the British (I am one of them)
built the railways and exploited the whole place for mineral wealth.
And now with technology running rampant in our lives, scientists
blandly start messing with life like good old Dr Moreau and his
leopard people.
Hakim Bey is still good listening on the subject http://
