Lies, Lawlessness and Disbelief: An Attempt at Thinking Art and Capital

http://www.furtherfield.org/features/articles/lies-lawlessness-and-disbelief-attempt-thinking-art-and-capital-0

By Katie McCain.

McCain discusses how capitalism has become on the one hand
all-encompassing and on the other utterly unreal. Arguing that we need
to be prepared to think the impossible so that resistance is able to
grow. It attempts to weave an account in which system failure is seen as
a point of rupture, whether in legislation, bureaucracy or thought itself.

Katie McCain is a Canadian artist based in Berlin. She received her BFA
from Concordia University and her MFA from Glasgow School of Art. Her
work has been shown internationally, including shows in Montreal,
Glasgow and Berlin.
