I've occasionally posted notes about open source developments in the
NHS. This one is particularly interesting to me, because it's about an
attempt to develop an open source clinical system for primary care, the
area in which I work -

At the moment the Government is making encouraging noises about open
source developments like this, because they may help to save money. If
the current clinical system suppliers decide to make sizeable donations
to the Tory party, however - which wouldn't surprise me - then we could
well see a cooling of enthusiasm, followed by a proliferation of
bureacratic obstacles.
