so this from a facebook post I sent out -
I've had huge problems w/ malware and viruses recently, including Adobe's flash update adding MacAfee without asking permission, to two of my friend's computers. I also ended up with a mess after a cnet download, including "Scorpionsaver," "Adpeak," and "Connect" or "Conduit" - they screwed up my browsers and in order to uninstall I had to roar through the registry like a banshee. Anyone else having these difficulties? They seem to be spreading. Everything's back to normal now, unless there's a rootkit at work and I don't see signs of it. I would definitely NOT use the cnet site again or update Adobe; I'm also staying away from the clouds around. Btw McAfee has been as pernicious as well; you have to use an uninstall tool from them as well as the regular program installs etc. etc. - and I still found stuff lying around the registry - and after I cleaned that out, had to use CCleaner for the remnants. Argh. This on a Win8 machine that came clean - think part of the problem was with Zinio which has had bad installs all over the place except for the app version. Argh again. - Alan _______________________________________________ NetBehaviour mailing list [email protected] http://www.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour
