Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March 2014 Access Space A full two day workshop with performer, sound and new media artist Marco Donnarumma, which will take you all the way from an introduction to hands on use of the software with external data input from sensors. Pure Data is a free real-time graphical programming environment for audio, video, graphical processing and physical computing. Pure Data is the third major branch of the family of patcher programming languages known as Max (Max/FTS, ISPW Max, Max/MSP, jMax, etc.) originally developed by Miller Puckette and company at IRCAM. Pd is a free and multi-platform software. The course provides a theoretical and practical overview of the graphical programming environment and most common idioms. The two day workshop costs £30.00 per person (to cover equipment costs). Lunch is not included, however tea, coffee and biscuits will be available free all day. He is a PhD student at Goldsmiths, University of London, funded by the European Research Council and supervised by Prof. Atau Tanaka and Dr. Matthew Fuller. Marco teaches regularly worldwide for academic institutions and media labs. Marco explores the dimensions of the body in relation to real, virtual and cultural space. Using natural and technological media, his works disrupt the flesh to uncover unknown traits of human nature. He is known for his wide range of body-based creations, including intense physical performance, sound light and video, Butoh, dance and media theatre. He makes custom open biotechnologies and bodily interactive systems.
