HI all
if you haven't already please sign the petition about the restriction
on access to books for prisoners in the UK ( no formalism here -you
don't have to be a Brit to sign!),

Subject: Books for prisoners - take action!
Thank you so much for signing the petition to reverse a Ministry of
Justice ban on family and friends sending books and essentials to
prisoners. You may have seen that a host of authors have written to
the Daily Telegraph, urging the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of
State for Justice, Chris Grayling, to reconsider the Prison Service
Instruction. You can see the list of eminent writers by visiting
http://www.howardleague.org/letter-to-the-telegraph/
The response from the public has been overwhelming, and we need to
keep the momentum. You have already taken the first step by signing
the petition, but you can do even more.
The Howard League for Penal Reform is asking supporters to tweet a
'Shelfie' picture to @MoJGovUK, using the hashtags #booksforprisoners
and #shelfie. A 'Shelfie' is a picture of your bookshelf and
represents the books that you would like to be able to send to
prisoners. If you don’t use Twitter, you can email your picture to
[email protected] . An example of the tweet to go with your
picture would read:
.@MoJGovUK Here’s my shelfie for prisoners! @TheHowardLeague
#booksforprisoners #shelfie
With your help, we can make a real difference and we will be fighting
for as long as it takes
