WOULD YOU MIND SHOWING ME EVIDENCE OF ANY NEGATIVE THING ANY SEA LION
HAS EVER DONE TO YOU?

Err I mean -

The taxonomy of trolls that Mez provides shows that much negative
behaviour on the internet isn't trolling per se.

Trolls may sincerely believe that we are wasting our (or their) time
or are taking things far too seriously. But they are not sincere in
the attacks they make - they use people's ideological and emotional
investments because they mean something to the person who possesses
them, not because they mean something to the troll.

This is different from shamers, sealions, brigaders, etc. who
genuinely believe and feel that you are wrong and that their specific
alternative is the right one.

All of these groups may overlap within a debate, and many of them feed
off each other, often unknowingly or with no incentives for
differentiation.

The relationship of *empty* positivity to art probably cannot be
unpacked without being dismissed as sealioning.

When the rubber band of coercive in-group normativity holding up the
mask of positivity snaps, the hate of the hugbox is as crushing as it
is unreflective.

Meow.
