Hey everyone,

Connect the Dots 2016 will be happening in November at DINA in Sheffield,
UK.

We're looking for artists to submit proposals, details of the brief and the
proposal form link can be found below.

*Connect the Dots 2016: The Sea Around Us*

Our fourth annual festival celebrates the beauty and fragility of the ocean
whilst exploring humanity’s relationship with the sea and our ecological
impact upon it. We will investigate these themes through a diverse range of
exhibitors - artists, activists, environmentalists and scientists – with
focus on our relationship with technology and the ocean.

CTD invites exhibitors to consider what the ocean means to them and what it
means to others? What is its future? We think it’s interesting to consider
the title, *The Sea Around Us* when we will be exhibiting in Sheffield -
one of the most central cities on the map of the UK. Does our distance from
the ocean affect our consciousness and our responsibilities towards it? As
a small island nation do we feel closer to the sea? Or do we share a
universal collective consciousness towards the ocean? Are we aware of the
long term and irreversible damage that is currently being carried out in
the oceans on our planet?

*"It is a curious situation that the sea, from which life first arose,
should now be threatened by the activities of one form of that life. But
the sea, though changed in a sinister way, will continue to exist; the
threat is rather to life itself." *- *Rachel Carson, The Sea Around Us*

We call upon artists, activists, environmentalists and those who feel they
want to contribute to the discussion surrounding the future of the oceans
to submit proposals. Connect the Dots has a small pot of funding to
commission new works.

Connect the Dots has an interest in art and activism, and has always
promoted the digital arts and new technologies. The exhibition aims to
provide a multifaceted exploration of the following:

   - A celebration of the ocean as a habitat and life source.
   - The historical and socio political significance of the ocean,
particularly focusing upon the current issues around global migration
   and the refugee crisis.
   - Ecological concerns and humanity’s technological impact - what damage
has been done so far and what can be done to prevent it. With focus on
positive change - new technology and tactics to reverse pollution.
