It's an OK list, but not a great one. I wouldn't elevate it above others I've seen. Obvious gaps include automata, parsing, and relational theory (despite categories for theory and databases). I might be interesting to construct a Great Books list, something less unix-centric, for http://www.netbsd.org/docs/books.html or on the wiki. OTOH it might just end up as the union of all undergraduate syllabi. --jkl
