There was a fix that went into -current a month or two ago which may
what you are missing.  Something to do with the way emacs was
manipulating the environment which caused memory corruption.  I imagine
the fix would have been pulled up to the 6.1 branch but you would

around you should be able to run emacs-23 instead, that does not seem to

wow, that's inconvenient. I tried emacs 23, 21, 20... they all crash in the same way
