hey guys, I have this round thing, you can put it on the bottom of stuff and it makes things move easier... you sort of say whee when using it so I called it a wheel... oh wait. But seriously, only my ignorance stopped me using pkg_comp. The one I rolled was pretty simple and suits my needs. The only thing I can offer as recompense is I do have a script that creates a meta-pkg makefile from a simple list of packages.
