I think we can do something like that, but I am not sure how useful

output would be? What do you want to use the output for?

Actually, I think "-d A", is probably more useful, and that POSIX.2,  
basically,
decided to settle on what GNU make does.  Just decided to comment on  
this
since original post wasn't very descriptive of what -p does.
