Hello,
I'm thinking of trying to boot NetBSD on an AmigaOne X5000. It has a
PowerPC e5500 cpu, 16 GB RAM and a sata SSD. Does anybody know if
there is a kernel that supports the e5500?
Doesn't look like there is. We've got support for the e500, but
that's
not 64-bit.
Looks like interesting hardware. It'd be nice to get our POWER/
PowerPC
support refreshed.
It is very interesting. I wish that I could find someone who would be
interest in porting NetBSD to it. I am thinking about trying to do
some crowd fund raising with maybe chipin, or something to pay
someone to do the porting.
There are other PowerPC systems that I wish NetBSD ran on too:
First, it looks like Servergy has built a new server: http://
www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1262676
Second, it looks like they are going to be building an open source
PowerPC laptop: http://www.powerpc-notebook.org/en/
So things are getting better for people who like PowerPC hardware.
There is a problem though, there may not be a unix like OS soon.
