Testing and using a broken(?) SanDisk

SanDisk is in a USB splitter that was made for  laptop computer.

disklabel -e -I /dev/rsd0
 Can see  this
  It is newfd as MSDOS

fsck -f -p  /dev/rsd0 and /dev/rsd0a
  Both fail

mount -t msdos /dev/sd0a  /umass1
   Device is not configured


What is wrong?
