There is no such thing as a default resolver after a fresh install. If you are using autoconfiguration via DHCP, /etc/resolv.conf should have a comment explaining it has been created by resolvconf and list a domain and a nameserver. If you entered network setup during installation manually and confirmed it should be saved the address of the DNS you entered there would be in /etc/resolv.conf (but also usually with a domain name).
