Yes; back in the day I kept artist discographies on mini-DVDs (1.4GB) and kept them loose in my pocket so I could swap songs on my dinky little laptop without overusing its dinky little hard drive. > How does it work? Well, I burned the data to the DVD-ROM. You'd be hard pressed to find a CD player that could read DVDs (due to the need for a red, rather than infrared, LASER), let alone browse their filesystems. Some newer DVD players could handle it, though, if you're willing to turn on your television in order to listen to music. You'd have to see what containers and codecs it supports. A flash drive would be a better, reuseable option for this, though, and would also work in new and fancy CD players or newer DVD players. If you're just gonna put files on a filesystem you might as well put them on a piece of plastic you don't have to chuck at the end. If you're referring to the can of worms that is DVD-A: <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Audio> you will run into similar compatibility issues and much worse authoring software. It may better suit your application but I don't have any firsthand experience with it. :3 <3 -3
