It is not me doing anything unreasonable, but I suspect it is a bug in
the NetBSD build system. Both NetBSD-9 and NetBSD-10 stable branches
fail with the same error. The older NetBSD-9-RELEASE builds without
any issues.

Looks like there have been changes to tools/compat build process to
cause build failures on Linux.
