I've been trying to sign up with a second free ISP as a backup to my
free4all account. Why is nothing ever as simple as it sounds?
I've tried 2: Free-Online & ConnectFree, and they're both giving me
more grief than is necessary to maintain sanity.
Let me tell you a story:
*Free-Online*
Connects ok.
Try out e-mail. Get error about, I assume, the password
authentification failing. Check the password. Same result.
Browse. Seems ok, until line drops after 4 min.
Slightly miffed :-/
*ConnectFree*
Connects reluctantly with a warning error of some sort about being
unable to get host or domain name.
Try out e-mail & news. Get error:
"POP3 network error - Can't assign network address (49)"
Log off. Check settings with wizard. Try and log in again.
"Guru 0100000C - Memory sanity check failed"
Hard drive invalidated :-(
/Ooo look! A flying Amiga!/
In the absence of any Amiga support from either of them (50p a
minute to be told to "get yer self a proper computer mate"),
if anybody out there is using either of these 2 ISP's, could you
please could let me know if there are any unique settings needed to
get them to work with the NC2 package.
Incidentally, I've never been able to connect to FreeServe either.
Can't get past the authentification.
Any suggestions guys?
