Hello all !
I have been trying to send some RTF documents to a PC-owning friend of
mine using Microdot (MDII v 1.2 / 07-02-99, from the About window).
The three docs I was trying to send were created with WordWorth 7.
When I attached them to the mail, the file sizes came through fine,
until I hit queue or send.
At this point, the RTF files became truncated.
All three were cut down from between 3-5k to about 500k.
I've tried a number of times to send them, but in the end, I had to
send it through YAM.
I've just spent some time examining the files to see why they were
being cut, and I found that the files are being cut at a non-text
character which has been saved by WW at regular intervals through the
document (it's not a carriage return - in RTF, that's "\par"). In a
hex editor, the character shows as 0D.
I've tried changing the mime type to octet-stream, but no difference.
I thought of zipping the files, and sending the zip, but it seems a
bit OTT for three files that don't even add up to 10k, especially as
my friend doesn't have WinZip installed yet (only just got the PC).
Anyway, if you need some examples, let me know, and I'll try to send
you some (I will probably LHA them, if only to get them through MD).
Thanks to anyone who can shed any light on this,
Regards,
Simon "Spudley" Champion.
