because you are actually IN the message. Imagine the programming
and processing involved to do it that way! Eg:
I go in to my PRIV folder, and whilst reading a mail decide I want to
archive it in my ARC folder. I click on Move, and put it in Arc. When I
come out of the mail, as it is now in ARC I should be in my ARC folder,
surely? But what if I don't press Escape to leave the mail but instead use
the "next message" button? Does it show me the next message in my PRIV
folder (which I was reading) or the next message in my ARC folder (where I
should in theory now be)?
Put simply, it's like saying you can't pickup a piece of paper when you're
stood on it!
