All of the others work, having the merits and drawbacks you mentioned,
which is why I didn't comment further.

I do a full backup to CDR every three weeks or so. I then do daily
incremental backups of me main partitions to another drive using LhA
(it has an option to only archive files with the archive bit cleared).
This is done at 5am each day by CyberCron, so there's no danger of me
forgetting the one day something goes tits up.

The backup strategy is more important than the actual method used.
It's no good having excellent backup hardware and software if you
forget to use it at the critical time.

Use that as your backup device then. There was something on Aminet
that was supposed to give an Amiga a sort of RAID capability. This is
the ultimate backup method since everything is stored on more than one
drive, reducing data losses to a minimum.
