Erm, you're not kidding! Connecting to Abel is totally bizarre. I tried
connecting 10 times: 4 times it didn't even go further than 'connect', 4
times it connected fine and the other 2 times 'connect' didn't appear and
then it took about 20 seconds or more just to start logging in.
