I wouldnt say that a GFX card eliminates all low chip-mem situations. 
When running Voyager for a while it often uses up my 4MB on the
PicassoIV and starts eating the chip-mem too.  It only happens on the
really graphically intensive sites but it causes problems nontheless.

Part of the reason is probably the screenmode I have Voyager running
on.  800x740 in 2048 colours but I just wanted to make the point that
buying a GFX card wont suddenly fix all your low gfx-mem problems, but
it will lessen their frequency.
