According to Graham, there's something good going on and it's
something to do with [netconnect] OnTopic: MD taglines (again, I know) :).

Aye, 'twas me.

Right, I've lost it (my original message that is, not my sanity). I'll
have another go although there'll probably be a mistake somewhere.
Sorry if I'm making it too baby-like for you. I suggest you just
follow it through, rather than trying to make sense of it all and then
doing it all at once.

1) Get Tag-o-miga (henceforth referred to as tago because I hate
typing it). Either from an AFCD or Aminet or similar.

2) Install it.

3) Set up some nice taglines/headers etc as in the tago docs.

3.5) Missed this one out. Oops. Make sure tago prefs are set with the
external editor to something like C:Ed @F

4) In MD2, choose "Settings/Signatures for this account" and set the
following:
a) Signature - blank
b) Followup header - MSGTO: %r [return]
                     SUBJECT: %s [return]
c) Reply header - same as Followup header.

5) Go to Settings/MUI/TextInput/Misc/ and set the external editor to
the tago program file. Also make sure "Call asynchronously" is
unticked.

6)
a) Quit MD to save your settings (clearly optional, here).
b) Run MD again!

7) Reply to a message. You should find the MSGTO: and SUBJECT: headers
in there. Just leave them alone, although if the original poster
doesn't give a real name you may want to fill it in.
When you have finished typing, click on external editor (or use hotkey
- default is RAmiga-e). I think you now have to type something,
absolutely anything, even if you delete it again. Maybe you should
write your message in the external editor. This (in my case) is the
only way tago will know you've edited the message.

8) Save the message and quit your editor. Hey presto. Either tago will
open a requester to change things or you will be returned to MD2
(depending on your prefs).
The MSGTO: and SUBJECT: lines will be replaced with a random header
and the signature will be random!!

9) Send the message.

There are a couple(?) of niggles:
a) The bit where you have to change the message in the external
editor. May not apply to all editors.
b) The fact that you have to call an editor in the first place
c) When quitting the editor, you probably have to do LAmiga-M to
bring MD2 back to the front if on its own screen.

Hope this is okay. Basically, what I'm saying is
1) Set MD2 to use tago as it's external editor
2) That's it!!!!

Please ask if you can't get it to work.

And look, I've used a random header and tagline in this message!!! :)
