PDF - Portable Document Format
An adobe file format, rather like Postscript (Hence using Ghostscript
is a good idea) for encoding paper documentation so that everyone can
print it at home rather than the company producing paper manuals. You
pay the paper, rather than them.
Electronics data sheets are usually available free on the net in PDF
format. Or you can write to a manufacturer and pay, then wait for
postage!
Also known as Acrobat files (incorrectly - Acrobat is only the
reader!)
