Hi, I've an idea which I'd like to see in a future version of Genesis: (I apologise if some of my explanation isn't 100% technically correct!) How it works now is, when using a modem dialup account, the modem is put into a mode where it transfers data over the connection and requires a special escape sequence to get back to command mode. You can send an init string and stuff before the connection, and you can play with a terminal program after you disconnect, but not in between. What I think would be useful is to allow (via arexx if req'd) a user to send a command string to the modem _during a connected session_. This would have to be done something like: Genesis escapes the modem, performs the command, prints out any response, and re-enters data mode. This could be automated to allow a periodically updating CONNECT speed readout to reflect the real rate, not the initial rate. Or maybe you'd like to adjust or query other modem parameters at some point. What do you think? Oh, and while I'm at it, I'd like to suggest that the connection status LEDs can be selectively hidden on an individual basis - ie: you could have only one led displayed for the active interface if you wanted. And the ability to have cumulated "Time Online" for multiple connects would be nice too. :-) Just aesthetics really.
