there's more to it than that.

Yesiree, looky here :)
In Settings/General settings, create a new button.
set the 'action' string exactly as below:
'ExtractSelectedMsgs FILE "ram:messages" PART 1 APPEND NOREQ'
Alter any things like PART, APPEND, NOREQ as the original poster said.
Leave in the inverted commas and speech marks.
The problem with yours, Andy, is you had PART=1 rather than PART 1.
