# Hello Jason

# Im afraid I cant answer any of those questions, but perhaps you
#could answer me some?

# Im thinking of getting the Z4, the 99 pound GFX card and the adaptor
#(which afaik you need with the gfx card).

# My question is is it any good for what it costs? I have a Power
#Tower so no problems there... But is the graphics card as good as,
#say, a BVision or CyberVision? I have a 1200.

# Thanks,

*THE GOOD...

Well, IMHO the Z4 from Power Computing is a well-built board
and does a brilliant job so far. Having a 16.7 million colour
workbench screen is an awesome improvement and the speed increase due
to my GFX card is quite noticeable. I have only encountered one
problem, that being a conflict between my PicassoIV and a Hypercom1
which I added to the "replacement" clockport.

  * WHILE ON THE SUBJECT, THE HYPERCOM1 IS UP FOR SALE IF ANYONE WANTS
  * IT. FULL HARD/SOFTWARE AND DOCS. ANY REASONABLE OFFERS ACCEPTED.
  * FREE DELIVERY.

*THE BAD...

Anyway, getting back to the point, it is worth buying so long
as you're gonna get a fair few cards to use with it. If you are only
after it for a GFX card then I'd consider other options. I'm saving up
for a Zorro-based serial card (*anyone know where I can get a good
*one; apart from Active...they're ignoring me* ) and then a
soundcard; probably the Prelude Zorro. I do have one thing to point
out to ANYONE thinking of having this: Power are advertising a "video
slot adaptor" but have not had any yet. I am desperate to get hold of
one because it is vital for proper use of my GFX card!!! I'll keep you
all informed anyway. You will have to consider that though, unless you
can find one elsewhere. If you do, let me know ASAP!! :-)

As for the 99 GFX card, I couldn't tell you. To be honest, I didn't
even know it was available yet!! I'd wait for the review. Has anybody
else got a Z4 out there? It would be interesting to know what you all
think to it. Mail your views...

BTW Sam, any other questions you have about it, just drop me a line.

*AND THE UGLY...

I have a few questions for everybody now:

1. Where the 666 can I get hold of a copy of Lightwave v4.5+? Is there
an '060 optimized version too?

2. I've also heard a rumour there is an Amiga software-based DVD
player out there - anyone know anything?

3. Where can I get an MPEG player that will display it on my workbench
screen and use my PicassoIV? I've trawled Aminet (when it works) but
nothing so far.

   Gotta go. Jayce
