Hi everyone,

For the most part programs like DA provide local caching of DNS
entries (speeds up the "looking up www.foo.com" part), switching modem
compression (check Genesis' settings for this, and you'll see a real
improvement, especially with an 060. Remember that the more
/compressed/ bandwidth you use, the more processor bandwidth you need
to take care of it. And of course they provide intelligent on-the-fly
caching of http: and ftp: information.

Get a cheap hub, a couple of network cards, and a PC as a server (a
box which sits in the corner buzzing and crashing occassionally. Good
definition of a PC!) Set the PC up as a Proxy, WIGL and NAT
passthrough, and dial in from the PC. I should have mine running by
this weekend, so I'll let everyone know how easy it is to set up!
