I'm not 100% sure what you mean here, but maybe this could help:
In the directory from which CM is run there should be another
directory which is your user name, we'll call it, er.., "phil". :)
In that directory you should have a "phil.data" a "phil.data.bak" a
"phil.prefs" and a "Hotlist.stamps". As a basic precaution you can
back these up which should prevent you actually *losing* any data in
the event of a problem.
I have had problems during upgrading when the new version is called
something else and put into a new directory, not overwriting the old
one. In this case you a) need to transfer your "phil" data directory
over to the new location, and b) check the file
"ENV:Vapor/CManager__path" to be sure it refers to the correct (ie:
the new) version of the program. The best way to do (b) is just
delete the file and run the new CM from the workbench and it will make
the file itself.
Oh, I nearly forgot! You also have to fiddle with the
"ENVARC:Vapor/CManager__path" in the same way else it all disappears
after a reboot!
Hope that helps,
Ian
