Yep it ture.  
It called V.92.

The upstream will incress from a Max of 33Kbits/S to 46Kbit/s.  Which is the
typical download rate for 56K modems, ie 56k normal max real rate is
46Kbit/s it turns out.

Now for realy good news.

All you would have to do to you modem is Flash upgrade it when up-grades are
realsed.  So as long as you 56k V.90 modem there will be no problems.

Now for bad news.

You ISP will have to do same sort of upgrade.  Of couse the ISP dons't have
to do this, but why shouldn't they.
