Are you still using the NC2 dockbar?
If you are, it looks for the Assign NetConnect2: whenever you open the
prefs.
Try adding Assign NetConnect2: NetConnect3: to your user-startup.
(assuming that you now have it in the NC3 drawer).
Or it could just be that one of the prefs (D/L directory?) is set to NC2.
