Weeeell... I suppose it only takes a few seconds really, but I know
what you mean. The do-it-on-disk-first principle makes it easier.
You could try creating the directory structure on disk, archive that,
then manually add files in the right places with XArc..

I do tend to use XArc for archiving, Opus for de-archiving.
There was a shareware program appeared recently on Aminet called
Voodoo which uses the XAD package. It can read (and maybe write?) all
sorts of format archives. It looked like it may have potential.
