hi andre

somehow this message got into my personal mail but
i felt that i should reply

>for my display instead of PAL.

first off what sort of programme ?
secondly in your devs/monitors drawer should be pal dblpal and your new cybervision
driver which means you can still access pal
or did the s/ware or yourself delete them?
How can I rectify this hassle as

>the reason I purchased the graphics card in the first place is so
>that I can have better screen mode displays.

you can retarget some programmes using "modepro"
from aminet theres several programmes to do this

>I now discover some
>programs of mine don't load because I now use the card. I have send a
>email Eyetech uk and I'm told that I need to use a PAL monitor as well
>which is a hassle me.

you certainly don't need a pal monitor as well!!!
you can either get a scandoubler or a multisync monitor
second hand microvitec 1432 or 1764 or if you look around there
are several others, eyetec do a scandoubler so they should have mentioned it.
also you can get a switcher box and 2 monitor leads so you can switch
between pal and cyberbraphics modes. i recently purchased one from "simply computers"
tell them you want to plug 2 pc's into 1 monitor, they'll not understand amiga stuff.

i personally use a multisync monitor and have an old picassoII+ card
which is the last card made to have input as well as output
so it sends pal straight through to the monitor,

also i believe that eyetec do a switcher box for a1200 owners so you
can even switch screen modes without having to flip a switch
you'll have to ask them about that.

cheapest option is a scandoubler and a switch box
oh and modepro or ScreenSelect or ForceMonitor or newmode
one of these will help you with rtg. most programmes writen in recent
years, will allow you to change to cybergfx screen modes
its just that they need to be told in prefs, but that would
mean running in pal first then switching after saving prefs.

you could also try vgaonly as an alternative screenmode for your pal
stuff, this sometimes works for vga monitors although some don't sync down
quite far enough for an amiga to work with,

i hope that i have been of some help

p.s. if your looking for a multisync make sure that it has 15khz as its slowest speed
most vga monitors start at 32khz
