That was a good summary. Over the years I have sen hundreds of people make
an newbie faux pas in various on-line forums.  They have always responded
with something like." Oh sorry I didn't realise I had done wrong." And that
is the end of it.

Andre Van Wyk is the first I have seen stubbornly insisting that he is right and 
every one else is wrong. There is nothing wrong with being a newbie, and
nothing wrong with being a stupid newbie, but  his being a bloody-minded,
argumentative newbie who refuses to listen to old-timers is hard to take.

One can imagine trying to explain to him why it is not considered polite to
blow his nose on the table cloth in a resaurant, while he insists there is
nothing wrong with it..
