Never had this myself with the search plugin, although I don't use it
that often TBH.
Have you tried re-installing the plug-in? I had a problem with the
Flash plugin crashing and just copying over the file (with the same
version) solved the problem.
Also are you using the latest version? It's 3.3 download it from
Silicon-Circus.
