In the letters to the guru page in the December 2000 edition of
AmigActive, there is a letter from a Stephen (Bomber) Harris which
says this:-

Hello Guru,

This is not a question but a solution that I found to a
common problem with Genesis trying to connect to NTLWorld. Below is a
list of steps I took. Perhaps it may help out some of your readers.

* I copied my present setting, so I had a base to start with.
* I then changed the phone number, username, and password.
* I could not remember the DNS number so I just deleted the old ones.
* I then ticked all the boxes under 'PPP' and saved the settings.

It now connects every time without crashing like it used to.
-----------

I tried doing what Stephen wrote and sure enough I now have no
problems (touch wood) connecting, and haven't had a crash since. At
times it could be a real pain to connect cos every time I dialed up,
it would freeze the computer and/or I'd get a so called recoverable
alert, which wasn't, that then crashed the computer with a purple
screen. Can anyone tell me if they have any idea why this should be. I
hope this info comes in handy to other users too.

           Ewan.
