Hi, Yes, this is a bit of a cross posting, but it kind of covers both worlds. I now and then use AMIRC for chatting. After all it is a good program. I had been in a few chats and was about to disconnect. I opened genesis' GUI and found that I had an attempted access from someone to my machine. Ok, MAYBE I am being a bit paranoid, but I think that sometimes you must say things so others can learn from it too, before they get REALLY hurt. This is the result of the traceroute I did, but it means just about nothing to me: traceroute 194.75.152.237 traceroute to 194.75.152.237 (194.75.152.237), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets 1 dialup.pacific.net.au (203.9.190.192) 151 ms 150 ms 151 ms 2 f1-0.syd001.pacific.net.au (61.8.0.99) 149 ms 144 ms 138 ms 3 ATM9-0-0-37.ia3.optus.net.au (202.139.19.121) 276 ms 243 ms 280 ms 4 GigEth1-0-0.rr2.optus.net.au (202.139.190.22) 157 ms 156 ms 154 ms 5 POS5-0-0.la1.optus.net.au (192.65.89.214) 799 ms 848 ms 453 ms 6 34.ATM0-0-0.GW1.LAX4.ALTER.NET (157.130.227.181) 477 ms 472 ms 463 ms 7 167.ATM3-0.XR1.LAX4.ALTER.NET (152.63.113.106) 472 ms 505 ms 472 ms 8 193.ATM2-0.TR1.LAX2.ALTER.NET (146.188.248.242) 472 ms 459 ms 472 ms 9 111.at-6-0-0.TR1.NYC9.ALTER.NET (146.188.142.178) 539 ms 546 ms 550 ms 10 187.ATM6-0.XR1.NYC1.ALTER.NET (152.63.21.57) 546 ms 543 ms 526 ms 11 195.ATM6-0.GW8.NYC1.ALTER.NET (152.63.19.253) 555 ms 537 ms 528 ms 12 * * * 13 transit1-pos10-2.ilford.ukcore.bt.net (194.74.16.233) 611 ms 677 ms 682 ms 14 core2-gig2-0.ilford.ukcore.bt.net (194.74.16.85) 612 ms 673 ms 674 ms 15 core2-pos8-0.ealing.ukcore.bt.net (62.6.196.254) 671 ms 669 ms 593 ms 16 highspeed2-fa0-0-0.ealing.fixed.bt.net (194.72.9.138) 670 ms 670 ms 674 ms 17 194.73.9.42 (194.73.9.42) 672 ms 665 ms 673 ms 18 * * * 19 * * * 20 * 62.172.194.55 (62.172.194.55) 633 ms * 21 * * * 22 * * * 23 * * * 24 62.172.194.55 (62.172.194.55) 696 ms * * 25 * * * 26 62.172.194.55 (62.172.194.55) 706 ms * * 27 62.172.194.55 (62.172.194.55) 678 ms * * 28 * * * 29 * * * 30 62.172.194.55 (62.172.194.55) 637 ms * 641 ms 17 amitcp:bin> I think it is from BT (from line 16) but am not sure if it is a real person or a robot. Either way, it is a bit scarey when you go to disconnect and find things like that showing in the list.
