Hi Andrew,

Catching up on a lot of stuff, so if there are any personal mails from
you I'll see them tomorrow...

Actually an Intranet just describes any closed network. Usually it
would have some route to the Internet, but that's not necessary. e.g.
I can remote control my Amiga (192.168.0.1) from my Wingate PC, but
not from any other computer in the world, regardless of the state of
Wingate.

Only the machines on your Intranet you want to move data to and from.
If that /is/ all of them, then you do. Samba is a Client/Server SMB
program which performs this job translucently. It complies nicely
with Windows Networking, available on all Windows systems since Win95,
and also with Samba under Linux. No doubt the commercial Dave on
MacOS can communicate with Samba on the Amiga too.

You can't! Try WarFTP available from Tucows. Or just use Samba.
More drag'n'droppable from all OSes.

The Home version of Wingate insists on 192.168.0.1, IIRC. All other
versions are versatile. Mine is set up as 192.168.0.253 on Wingate
Standard.

Does your network card on the miggy have little flashing lights? If
so, check that when you PING from Windows that the TX/RX light on the
miggy flashes. If not, the packets aren't getting to your card. If
so, Genesis is probably misconfigured, although I can't think exactly
how TCP/IP would only send and not receive. Hmmmm....
