CM has always been a pain regarding saving added URLs, but I've
finally got it working here. Two suggestion worth trying (more out of
desperation than real logic) are:
1) When you add a URL, make sure it actually has been updated on the
HD - this is particularly important with that "atomic commit"
weirdness used by PFS. For example, I have CM set to save whenever I
make a change, and also when I close it. If I have CM open, make a
change, and then close it /before/ the final bit of HD access it
picks up on the old version and saves that, not recognising the change
made. It sounds odd, and probably doesn't make sense the way I've
written it, but it definitely seems to have some effect.
2) Delete all your env: files (NOT ENVARC: !) and run CM. It will ask
for a path to your .data file and once this is settled, copy the newly
created ENV: file to ENVARC: and with a bit of luck it will be more
responsive to additions in the future.
One thing you could try, Keith, is setting the protection bits of the
.data file so it is writable but not deletable. Then (hopefully),
changes can be made to the file (as it is writable) but it can't be
overwritten by your old version (because it isn't deletable)
Worth a try.
